Business Technology Consulting Services
Growth is a good problem. A tech stack that can't keep up with it isn't.
You bought the tools. You set them up. You're still paying for all of them. But your team toggles between five tabs to log a single client interaction, and nobody's sure which subscription is earning its keep. Business technology consulting helps growing service businesses review their tech setup and decide which tools match their operations. With experience helping almost 100 companies scale at Day by Day, I can help you build a tech stack that supports your business and team.
When Your Tech Tools Do Everything Except Help
Each of your tools solved a real problem when you installed them. But you need a setup that works now, and that’s where a business technology consultant comes in.
The longer you've been in business, the more you’ll find that:
- You're paying for software that nobody on the team uses
- Your tools don't connect, so client data gets re-entered (and re-mistyped) man**lly
- The systems that worked at ten clients don't hold up at fifty
- Too much work depends on workarounds and copy-paste
- You can't tell which software is worth keeping, replacing, or adding
- You've lost weeks to free trials and demos that went nowhere
- Half your processes live in someone's head (and you're hoping they don't leave)
From Software Sprawl to a Stack That Works
When you have the right tools, and they can talk to each other, it's like hiking in walking shoes instead of flip-flops.
Know exactly what every tool is doing
You get a clear picture of every subscription and how it's used. No more paying for a "team plan" with two active users.
Stop paying twice for the same job
A software consulting audit usually reveals which tools overlap or fail to do their jobs. You drop what's redundant and invest in software that moves the needle.
Make your tools talk to each other
Tech integration consulting connects the systems you already use so client data flows where it needs to go. Less man**l work, and faster handoffs with fewer mistakes.
Build a stack that supports growth
Instead of patching things as you go, you get a tech stack designed for the size you're growing into.
How Does Tech Consulting Set You Up With the Tools for Success?
Here's how Day by Day does a deep dive into the software that your business runs on.

1. Take Stock of Your Tech Stack
We start with every piece of software your business pays for. We map who uses each tool, what it's for, and where it overlaps with something else.
2. Test What's Working
We dig into how each tool is actually being used. Some are pulling their weight, while others are doing a fraction of what they should.
3. Recommend the Right Tools
Based on where your business is going, we recommend a tech stack that fits. That might mean keeping what you have or filling a gap you didn't know was there.
4. Build a Phased Rollout Plan
We don't recommend ripping everything out at once. You leave with a plan that sequences changes, so your team can absorb them without grinding to a halt.
The Nuts and Bolts of Business Technology Consulting
This is the nerdy bit. But it's also the part that saves you money, so stay with me.
Technology Assessment - What’s in Your Stack
We walk through your current tech stack one tool at a time. What it does, who uses it, what it costs, and where it connects (or doesn't).
Software Evaluation - What's Worth Keeping
Each tool gets tested against how your business runs today. We look at all aspects of its use. If a $200/month tool is being used by one person for one feature, that's worth knowing before the next renewal.
Technology Recommendations - A Shortlist that Fits Your Business
Instead of a generic "top 10 tools" list, we recommend specific software based on your team size, industry, budget, and how your work flows.
Tech Stack Planning - How the Pieces Fit Together
This is where we design how the pieces connect. Which tool is the source of truth for clients? Which one handles scheduling? How does information flow from a new lead through to delivery and renewal?
Change Management - Getting Your Team to Use the New Setup
We loop in the people who use the tools daily, so the setup is adopted rather than avoided. Many tech consulting projects skip this step, and it's the one that decides whether the work sticks.
Ongoing Technology Advisory - A Tech Consultant on Call
Tech moves fast, and so does your business. Ongoing technology strategy consulting means you have someone to call before you sign up for the next "must-have" platform.

Let's Get Your Tools Working as Hard as You Do
Too many tools, not enough clarity? If your tech stack is creating more work than it saves, business technology consulting can sort that out. Book a call, and we’ll take a look at your tools.
But what's the difference between business technology consulting and automation consulting?
Technology consulting services are about the tools. Automation consulting is about what happens between them. This service helps you choose the right software and build a stack that fits. If automation is already on your mind, take a look at Project Autopilot, where the tools start working together.

But isn't tech consulting the same as IT consulting?
No, IT consulting usually covers hardware, networks, security, and infrastructure. Business technology consulting is about the software your business runs on day to day, including your CRM, project management system, finance tools, scheduling, email, and forms.

But how long does a business technology consulting engagement take?
It depends on your business size and how tangled your current stack is. A small consulting business with five tools is a different scope than a 15-person agency with twenty. Most engagements take between six and twelve weeks, and we define the scope upfront.

But how involved does my team need to be during the process?
Your team's involvement is minimal; I will mostly need your input. We'll need a few short conversations with the people who use the tools daily, but we keep them focused.

But what information do you need from us to get started?
In order to start a consultation, you will need to give us a list of every tool you currently pay for, who uses it, and what it is used for. If that list lives in someone's head (or your accountant's inbox), we'll help pull it together in the first session. There’s no pre-work required.

But what if we're already using a bunch of different tools?
It’s okay if you’re already using tools; that's the starting point. Most clients come to us with five to twenty tools, half of which overlap. Sorting that out is the whole point of small business tech consulting.

But do you work with businesses that have an internal IT team?
Yes, if you already have an IT team, this service complements it. We focus on the software side of operations while IT handles infrastructure. We're happy to coordinate with your internal team.

But will we have to replace all our current software?
You will almost never have to replace all your current software. Most engagements end with a mix; some tools stay, some get swapped, and some new ones get added. Wholesale replacements are rare, and we only recommend them when keeping a tool costs more than moving on.
